I use a deeply relaxing style of Swedish massage, along with elements of Shiatsu and energy work to gently facilitate an experience of whole-body healing for each client.

Massage therapy is a highly-regarded method for achieving relaxation, pain relief, healing, and facilitating harmony within the body.

Massage therapy has been practiced for thousands of years as a method for relaxation, healing, and realignment within the body. Massage therapy works by stimulating the nervous system to promote an increase in circulation and positive hormone production, working with the body’s own wisdom to help balance your internal systems. Massage can provide relief from a myriad of afflictions, including pain, anxiety, digestive issues, headaches, insomnia, appetite problems and more.

Having been a life-long Ithaca resident and a health care practitioner for many years, I have fostered a network of local specialists and consider excellent referrals an important way for me to best serve my clients. This network of specialized professionals includes chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturists, and more. If we are working on addressing your needs or concerns and some of them overlap with other specialized health care providers area of expertise or is outside of my scope of practice, I can refer you to other excellent local professionals as needed. 

Types of Massage Therapy Offered

Swedish Massage – A common massage therapy style, Swedish massage improves circulation and relieves muscle tension through alternating kneading and effleurage (long smooth strokes) and rhythmic pressure applications. Improved circulation increases oxygen transport throughout your entire body, which is key to healing, energy, pain relief, and more.

Swedish Massage Techniques:

  • Effleurage (long, smooth strokes)
  • Compression
  • Petrissage (kneading)
  • Deep and superficial Friction
  • Tapotement (specialized tapping)
  • Vibration
  • Gentle stretching

Deep Tissue Massage – Deep Tissue Massage is ideal for the areas on your body that are tense from overuse. Deep tissue massage therapy uses compression to provide soothing relief to areas of pain in the deeper tissues of your body, as in muscle, tendons and facia.
